The weather in these parts has been interesting, to say the least. Sunday we woke up to rain. Yes, rain. On December 14th. By afternoon the temperatures had dropped and the lovely rain had turned into freezing rain mixed with snow. Needless to say Blueberry and I hibernated all afternoon.
Yesterday when we woke up our world had been turned into a skating rink. We haven't had near the ice the Northeast has had, but nevertheless it was interesting driving into work yesterday. The school parking lot was glare ice as was the parking lot at work. Because I am as graceful as a cat *cough* *cough* I managed to stay upright as I skated into the building. One of the girls I work with didn't fare so well. She fell in the parking lot and bloodied up her elbow.
After work I decided it might be a good idea to try out my electric power shovel, and clean the driveway of what little snow we did get. The shovel worked great. The ice under the snow was not as thrilling as one might think, however. I slipped a couple of times, again managed to stay on my feet, but I did have visions of being tangled in the shovel. I'm pretty sure the shovel would have won that fight.
Winter is officially here with freezing cold temps, ice, and snow. While some may have visions of sugar plums dancing in their head, I have visions of a sandy beach with a light breeze blowing as I take a nap under the hot sun. Please don't wake me until winter is over.
