Since Hubs and I couldn't be gone very long on a honeymoon, we decided to head to Catalina Island, CA after the wedding. Sunday morning we got up and went in search of breakfast. We walked to a nearby casino, thinking they would have a good spot to eat. We came across their buffet and after seeing the price ($20 a piece), decided we would rather not spend that much for breakfast. We thought they would have other options. And they did! The Golden Arches. Yup, it was the only other "breakfast" place we found. Two sausage and egg mcmuffins with orange juice (coffee for Hubs) later and we walked back to our hotel to gather our bags and head for the airport.
Our flight to Catalina was uneventful. Once off the plane we went outside to hail a cab for the ride to Long Beach where we were going to catch the ferry. Eleventy million dollars later we were at the boat launch. (Seriously, the cab fare from LAX to Long Beach was insane). Hubs went to get our tickets for the ferry and managed to get us on an earlier boat. I was all for that, I was excited to see Catalina. We had a little time before we were to leave so I took my Dramamine and we shared a salad.
Pretty soon the ferry arrived:
Once we were on board we had to decide where to sit. Inside or out? Lower deck, middle or upper? We chose outside on the middle deck. Just seemed a little too windy and cold on the upper deck. After just a few minutes, the boat slowly pulled away from shore.
We had about an hour before we were to reach our destination, so we settled in to enjoy the view:
(I enjoyed that view!) ;)
About halfway into our trip, I started feeling not right. Not horrible, but I definitely wanted solid ground under my feet. As we got closer and closer to our destination I was feeling worse and worse. Finally we saw Catalina.
The boat docked and everyone started to make their way inside to the exit. Once we got inside the air around me was suffocating and hot. I desperately needed fresh air. I bolted for the deck again and before I could fill my lungs with fresh air I felt that wave of cold sweat mixed with panic, knowing what was coming next. Thankfully I made it to the side of the boat, and well, I'm sure you can figure out that the salad met its fate on the lower deck of the boat. (Super romantic on your first day as a married woman, let me tell ya!)
I made the walk of shame off the boat, feeling very sorry for whoever was going to be lucky enough to have to clean up my mess. The captain had given Hubs a cup of water when he saw me rush back outside which I was grateful for, and I sipped the ice cold water as we made our way to our hotel...

Normally right now, I would say "HA!! YOU PUKED!! Wuss!", but I've recently turned over a new leaf and now I wouldn't say something like that. So callous and insensitive. Because I love you.
