We ate breakfast at the same corner deli not too far from our hotel. We had tickets for the 9/11 Memorial at 10:30 that morning so after breakfast we caught our bus and hitched a ride to the memorial. It was sobering to think of all the people who lost their lives in that very spot.
The tree below was found at the original site during the clean up. It was nursed back to health and re-planted at the memorial site.
The Plaque below was on a station house a couple of blocks from the 9/11 Memorial.

After the 9/11 Memorial we decided to take a walk across the Brooklyn Bridge. Of course we decided to do that on the hottest day we had while we were there! The bridge is awesome though.

Of course all the walking made us hungry so we decided to try what was supposed to be some of the best pizza you'll ever eat just over the bridge in Brooklyn.

We expected a line. We were told the only time there isn't a line is if it is cold and rainy outside. As it was a beautiful day the line was long but it moved really fast (the speedy service of NY at its finest).

Once our belly's were full we decided to go back over to check out Wall Street and the South Street Seaport.

After our big day we decided to go down to Hell's Kitchen to eat. We found an Italian restaurant that looked pretty good. We couldn't have been more wrong. The worst meal we had the whole time we were in New York was also the most expensive meal we ate. I did get a chocolate cannoli from the deli on the corner were we ate breakfast most mornings.
Back to our hotel and time for sweet dreams before Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty the next day...
